The Tao of Pooh - Benjamin Hoff, Ernest H. Shepard I think most of what I got from this book came from where I was when I finished it -- stuck in an elevator, waiting for the technicians to get unstuck in traffic. The idea of just being, of taking things as they are, of not struggling against the nature of the situation takes on new meaning when you are in a situation that is out of your control. I knew nothing of Taoism before I read this book, and while it may not be a scholarly text, for an introduction to the fundamentals of an Eastern Religion, it served its purpose, with examples I knew and understand. Well worth a read, particularly while stuck in an elevator car between the 23rd and 24th floors.
