Cheaper by the Dozen - Frank B. Gilbreth Jr., Ernestine Gilbreth Carey This is one of my favorite books from childhood. I grew up loving the Gilbreths, and then had a man who worshipped at the same altar as my major professor in college. Every time I re-read the book now, I think not only of happy childhood memories, but of happy college memories as well.

As for the book, I can see how it would be "old" to children today, but that is not an excuse not to read it. There are moments of hilarity, and everyone, young and old can enjoy the book. In an age when more people are likely to know the title from the Steve Martin movie that has no connection other than the title, I think it is important that people know the book as well.

It is really is a great book, and anyone who was ever a child can relate to parts. I highly recommend reading the follow-up Belles on Their Toes as well. It's a great complement to this book.
